If you don't take good care of yourself - body, mind & spirit - how can you strive to achieve your dreams, resolutions and goals? It's a question that I ask myself from time to time. Life is so busy, it's easy to lose sight of simple, common sense, though 'important' things: proper rest, relaxation, daily exercise, good nutritition, quality time with friends and family. I know, I'm listing some very basic aspects of life, but it is so easy to let some or all of them drop of the table.
Personally, when I do that, I can truly feel it. My mood sags, my energy level is sub-par, the quality of my creative work - the quality of my overall life - takes a big dip. Personally, I feel that 'dip' most strongly in the Fall. Maybe it's because my business events peak at that time, after an already full year. Maybe it's the reduced sunshine, and the prospect of the approaching winter months. Maybe it's a subtle wake up call to 'slow down'. To stop and smell a rose or two, and to fully re-charge one's physical, mental, spiritual, emotional batteries.
I'm listening to the call and have begun to pay more attention to proper rest, relaxation, daily exercise, good nutrition, and quality time with loved ones. I actually work pretty hard on all of those things, but I do slip at times, and the toll can be cumulative when you 'slip' a lot. I'm taking heed, as I really want to move my creative projects forward with enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and renewed passion and creativity. So much to do, but all of it good!
