Sometimes it's the simple things in life that really count - really add up. In 2008 my personal resolution is to show my gratitude for all that I have and all that I am - to 'give back' - and the environment is one of my recipients. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday in 2008 I'm providing tips for
how each one of us can protect and preserve the environment - and 'give the boot to our carbon footprints' in an effort to fight Global Warming.
I'm working to educate myself and others about what we can do to make a difference. One of the smallest, easiest ways that each one of us can make a difference is to simply turn the lights off when we leave a room. While we don't want to live in the dark, why leave a house full of lights blazing when no one is in each room? I've been turning lights off for a long time because it helps to reduce my utility bill. It also helps to reduce our carbon footprints. Our carbon footprints are a measure of our activities on the environment, such as driving automobiles and overall energy usage. In other words, the amount of Greenhouse Gases that we produce, as measured by the amount of CO2 (Carbon) that is emitted into the atmosphere.
Working day by day to preserve and protect the environment is much the same as taking one small step, one day at at time to make a dream, resolution, or goal a reality. It all adds up over time - personally - and maybe even globally depending on the dream, resolution or goal.
