A smile, a kind word, simple show of support . . . doing something nice for someone else is an easy feat. But like most good habits, you have to be conscious of your actions and make a decided effort to 'do good', otherwise 'nothing happens'. So how many acts of kindness did you shower on others last week? Yesterday? How often do you
think about 'acts of kindness'. It's worth a little thought and effort because a few kind words and simple gestures can easily bring a smile to someone's face, and add a little happiness to your own day.
It's Thursday - Tip-Day for PreMeditated Acts of Kindness. My 2008 Resolution is to 'Show Gratitude' for my blessings by 'Giving Back'. The point behind PreMeditated Acts Of Kindess is to give more conscious thought to my actions and the way that I treat others - and the way that I treat 'myself'. In 2008 I'm urging folks to join me and do the same - to work at being kind because it's the right thing to do, without worrying about receiving anything in return, be it kind gesture or word, though my experience is that kindness shown is usually returned in kind.
As you meander through your Thursday - at work, on the street, in stores, with friends and family -consider what you can do to make someone's day. I offer these warm words of inspiration from The QuoteGarden to get you going . . .
"You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late." Ralph Waldo Emerson
"By swallowing evil words unsaid, no one has ever harmed his stomach." Winston Churchill
"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion." Dalai Lama
"Remember that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something and has lost something." H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
"The more sympathy you give, the less you need." Malcolm S. Forbes
"In about the same degree as you are helpful, you will be happy." Karl Reiland
