Need a boost? A little break that brings a smile to your face? Try a little daydreaming. The downturn in the economy is making it more difficult for families to hit the road or climb on a plane to a destination the provides rest, relaxation and fun (all of which can contribute to good health and happiness). Rather than completely abandoning a vacation this year, do a little daydreaming about alternatives to a week-long vacation at an exotic locale. Then do some brainstorming, followed by serious planning. The daydreaming will provide a nice break filled with pleasant thoughts. The brainstorming and planning will render some viable options and alternatives to an expensive vacation and remove rest and relaxation from the chopping block.
Rather than a traditional summer vacation this year, I intend to 'Plan A Beach Outing', or a series of outings, limited to one day or a weekend, as part of my I Resolve To . . . Challenge: 365 Resolutions For Health & Happiness. Why not join me? The objective is very simple: Do at least one thing each and every day to promote health and happiness for 'YOU'. Banish the 'Someday, Someday, Someday Syndrome'. Instead, make every day New Year's Day. Make every day count. The list of possibilities is infinite and can be tailored to your own dreams, resolutions and daily goals. If you need some help - a little nudge, a bit of inspiration, tips, advice, and news about the best ways to make resolutions a reality - please use IResolveTo.Com as one of your resources. I did this daydream-brainstorm-plan exercise in February when I made my resolution to 'Plan A Road Trip To Regional Attractions'. There are a variety of interesting and fun road trip options within a reasonable driving distance from my home (one hour to a few hours) that I plan to pursue in the next six months. A beach outing is on my list for May and June and I've picked two sites that are about 30-45-minutes from my home. Colonial Beach Virginia and Westmoreland Park offer beaches on the Potomac River, antique shops, restaurants, a nearby winery that I enjoy, and miles and miles of parkland and countryside to explore by foot, which will make me very happy (I love walking and I'm in training for my 2009 Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk). Rather than feeling deprived about not taking a more exotic vacation, I'm going to sprinkle some day-trips to the beach and other attractions in the region. I intend to get out of the house and my office, so that I can see and try some new things, get some walking exercise, and recharge my batteries, without spending much money (saving and reducing debt is another resolution). Lots of good things to anticipate!
