My New Year Resolutions, AKA Daily Resolves, have been a near lifelong passion, but like most things in life sometimes passions take a backseat to other daily priorities that life throws at you. In this case, my Haiku Resolves and other updates to I Resolve To . . . hit pause, but I'm back. While, I haven't posted regularly of late, I have continued faithfully with my own Daily Resolves (exercise, walking meditation, creative pursuits, etc.). A key to making and keeping New Year Resolutions is to continue circling back, time and again. After all, it's not the destination, it's the journey.
After a break, I'm returning to one of my "creative" New Year Resolutions for 2018-2025 that hit the backburner: Write one new haiku each week, for 52 weeks, in an effort to mindfully, intentionally embrace the seasons and all the "simple wonder" around me. English haiku is one of my favorite forms of poetry. Simple verse, three lines, 5-7-5 syllables, seasonal, often with a nature image. Creating "Haiku Resolve Vibes" has been a joy. I love this wonderful creative project!
Another key to New Year Resolution success is to choose resolutions that you will absolutely love to pursue. Desire to live your resolutions will build momentum with each small step and each small success. My personal and professional mantra is "Do What You Love, Love What You Do". When you pursue your passions you are sure to find success. There are no failures. Stumbles and road blocks are nothing more than lessons that will make you and your resolve stronger. We're 65 days from another New Year . . . why not start dreaming and planning for the next wonderful chapter, today?
