Life is so serious with so many pressing obligations (especially in light of the ailing economy) that days can become looonng, dull and tedious. I try to remind myself, often, of the phrase "All Work And No Play . . . ", so that I am prompted to take breaks, schedule exercise, meditate, connect with friends, enjoy my creative projects, and do a host of other fun, non-work activities. Work, at times, can simply dominate my life if I am not careful. To avoid burn-out and boredom, and to inject a mix of activities into my days that promote health and happiness - I like to get 'creatively silly' with my extracurricular activities and do things that are outside the norm, and perhaps stretch my comfort level a bit.
With that in mind, I intend to 'Get Silly, Run Through The Sprinkler', or maybe dance in a fountain, or take a stroll on a rainy day, as part of my I Resolve To . . . Challenge: 365 Resolutions For Health & Happiness. Why not join me? The objective is very simple: Do at least one thing each and every day to promote health and happiness for 'YOU'. Banish the 'Someday, Someday, Someday Syndrome'. Instead, make every day New Year's Day. Make every day count with 'daily resolves'. The list of possibilities is infinite and can be tailored to your own dreams, resolutions and daily goals. If you need some help - a little nudge, a bit of inspiration, tips, advice, and news about the best ways to make resolutions a reality - please use IResolveTo.Com as one of your resources. I am working hard to live more consciously, to think about my activities, feelings, and emotions 'real time', as well as to plan ahead in an effort to inject more activities into my day that promote health and happiness. I have identified 'daily resolves' that are important to me, like eating more fruits and veggies, hydrating, being kind in traffic, walking and exercising, and I remind myself of them constantly, so they become permanent parts of my daily life. I also spend time thinking and brainstorming: In this case today, about ways that I can 'get silly and have a little fun' this summer. Here is my short list:
Ten Ways To Get Creatively Silly & Have A Little Fun This Summer:
- Make 'happy face' pancakes.
- Tell a silly knock-knock joke.
- Make sand castles at the beach.
- Visit a theme park or water park.
- Float in the pool and study the clouds.
- Enjoy a popsicle treat on a 90+-degree day.
- Pitch a tent in the back yard and 'go camping' with girlfriends.
- Run through the sprinkler, wade in a fountain, or walk in the rain.
- Go to a scary Drive-In movie, eat junk food, and share ghost stories.
- Watch cartoons on Saturday morning like you did when you were a kid, laugh a little.
