This summer I was overcome by a craving for a snack that I adored as a kid: Pistachios. I loved carting them along on road trip vacations (in a tin coffee can) with my family. So, I ran to the store and bought a big bag of these tasty treats that brought back found memories. Even better, they are chock full of nutrition: fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins and minerals like B6 and Potassium. What's not to love about that? Yep, I did my homework. I was curious about the health benefits - I tend to do a lot of nutrition research because improved eating habits is one of my top resolutions. I found a great website, PistachioHealth.Com, that is full of interesting facts about Pistachios. I'm glad I did my homework because I also learned that Pistachios are lower in fat content compared to other nuts and a one ounce serving is about 160 calories. Made me feel good about satisfying this particular craving.
